Sir,

Edward Said has added much to our understanding of the Arab and eastern worlds as a reflection of ourselves rather than as a pathology or racist stereotype. The overwhelming impression left with this writer after reading Said on 'Orientalism', is how similar all peoples are in their hopes, motivations, and reactions.
