Your comment on Sharon's "resolve" is well taken.

I can make some allowances for the statements of George Bush as he surely cannot comprehend the fundamental hatred of Islam for Israel and the Jews.

When Sharon makes similar statements he has to know that they are meaningless political posturings. At best, he is deceiving his readers, at worst he is deceiving himself.
