Bravo, Daniel Pipes:
My information about you is that you are highly qualified to speak on the Middle East since you have a Ph.D. from Harvard in Arabic History, have taught and published in the field, and know Arabic. Aren't you Dr. Daniel Pipes?
Judith Butler's work is such a morass of gobbledy-gook, it's no wonder she's confused on this issue as well. (Try reading her essay in the book, For Love of Country, for one.)
My view is that when one signs up to teach a college course, one is expected to teach the class. One goes to a political rally during non-work time -- or is this Mr. Dabashi's real work and classroom teaching merely interferes?
Thank you for your good work! It's unfortunate that Donahue hasn't a clue as to what Campus Watch is about, and that he let mud-slinging pass for informed discussion. Campus Watch has important work to do and helps all college students feel welcome on campus. Dabashi's nervous response shows that publicity about poor teaching and propagandizing on campus are not what parents are paying for and what students should expect. Can the parents be mobilized? Alumni?
Many thanks,
