Dual Purpose of Explosives

Putting explosives in and near the oil wells would serve two purposes. 1. The aforementioned "deterrence" and 2. To put out oil-well fires if they should occur in the scorching hot desert with 100's of cigarette smoking arabs servicing the wells.
