Reader comment on item: Perceiving Academia's Decline Already in 1971

Submitted by M Tovey (United States), Jun 17, 2021 at 11:07

This Reader, once again, compelled to make an observation that mirrors Dr. Pipes' 'post war' analysis on the insurgent infiltration and takeover of higher American education, does so in a way that, as was noted in the earlier autopsy of Harvard's educational 'achievements, now passed,' should have been taken as a warning that as was prognosticated by none other than Stalin, which read: [Education is a weapon whose effects depend on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed].
This began the era in which this reader remembers growing up under the West Coast mantra of educational aims and directives that were to change the protected environment of scholastic youth into the atheistic day care systems (K-12, and higher) seen today. They used to teach Bible in the ancient years; now they teach a curriculum of Hogwarts and Das Capital. How could it NOT be perverted?
Fortunately for the Doctor, he went to learn Arabic, for which this reader is thankful, for his Arabic reader is a source of intriguing insights on colloquial understanding of the things of the Middle East. Other participants that he hosts (like DNM) provide further assessments in such things. This is a better education than the one this reader missed out for the crass disinterest shown by the College staff that was left behind for their distorted vision of a future this observer decided not to pursue.
For the disappointment that Nathan Pusey expressed, even if by latent inferences that American education (for Harvard is merely one example-try a comparison to UC Berkeley where this observer once had a link to the academia there), we find in retrospect that much of the misdirection now being experienced in current academia was forecast in so many institutions that were infiltrated long before Educator Pusey ever entered into academia in the first place. All his speech did was eulogize the failures that were seen forthcoming. Thanks for sharing, Dr. Pipes.
