Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men
in response to reader comment: Salaam Alaikum!

Dear Ajda

I'm sure you're already aware but, Muslim women are often treated no better than "kafirs", the only difference being they are (usually, and as a legal requirement) provided for. But where is the joy in living in a sad or lonely palace? Even if it is embellished with diamonds.

I have and have had several Muslim female friends, most don't even like men lol, and as for the marriages I've observed that most are unusually problematic. It would appear that this is due to impossibly high expectations, contrasting ideas about faith, double standards coming from the man's side, and a lack of true unconditional love. Rather the marriage is often more of an arrangement where gender specific conditions must be met, else the husband will either withhold affection or seek it elsewhere. I will not touch on the subject of intimacy but, put it this way it is usually expected on tap.

Many Muslim women are incredibly unhappy within their marriages, but they are taught to endure for the sake of God, their kids or society. As with men of any other faith, there are good and bad but let's not pretend they are angels with fellow Muslims. As Tony Montana said they just know how to hide!
