Militant religions

Excellent essay. I have only one correction.
Your statement "Militant Islam cannot be compared to any segment of Christianity, Judaism, or Hinduism. These religions do not embody groups with totalitarian utopian ideologies that seek world hegemony." ignores the phenomena of Christian and Jewish fundamentalism that has existed over the last 500 years. Karen Armstrong in "The Battle for God" (published in the year 2000) describes how they haven't been any better than the Islamic fundamentalists in perverting their respective religions.
