What if USA had not invaded Iraq ?Reader comment on item: What If the United States Had Not Invaded Iraq Submitted by Irving D. Cohen (United States), Sep 12, 2005 at 14:15 Dr. Pipes, with all due respect, I strongly differ with you when you say that the balance is "positive".I have been an admirer of the work that you have been doing for some time in revealing the true nature of Jihad and the duplicity of Islamists, but your politics, in this case, is getting in the way of your usuallly excellent reasoning. For example, you do not even mention the loss of American lives and mutilated American bodies, as well as the thousands of innocent Iraqis killed and wounded by our Iraqi expedition. That surprises me greatly, and should be considered a part of any reasonable attempt to measure results. Irving D. Daniel Pipes replies: I was given 400 words for this assignment and so did not mention many considerations, including the loss of coalition soldiers' lives, the impact on the oil markets, and Iraq's role in bringing democracy to the Middle East.DP Comment on this item
