Facebook and Twitter should become utilities!

Reader comment on item: Deplatforming: The New Censorship

Dr Pipes,

It is either we have free speech or not. And to paraphrase Jordan Peterson: Who decides what is hate speech?

So if Laura Loomer tweets that Ilhan Ahmad is pro-Shari'a and pro-FGM and anti-Zionist (which is true) is this hate speech and should she be deplatformed from twitter? The answer is no!

And the hypocrisy of twitter is that there is an Egyptian woman who lives in New Jersey and her name is Ayat Oraby and she has close to 400,000 followers on twitter. She posts hideous tweets where she urges her Muslim followers (she is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood) to boycott the Copts and their businesses all over the world! Oh did I mention that she has that blue verification thing? Or the vile Louis Farakhan he is still posting his vile tweets against the Jews. And let us not forget the illiterate Linda Sarsour and here vile antisemitism

I really would not want to see the vile Ayat Oraby or the vile Louis Farakhan or the equally vile Linda Sarsour be deplatformed. And let the market place of ideas be the judge of these hate mongers.

The only way out is that both Facebook and Twitter should become utilities
