Of course she gets away with it -- she's the ideal prop for the left (that "homegirl in a hijab" hooey), especially in hipster Brooklyn. With her ridiculous Rosie Perez accent, she's the perfect caricature. The only thing she's missing is visible tattoos.

The only surprise is that she hasn't run for office...yet. I fear the day she gets a seat in the city council and then moves up from there
