The article contains much information on the true nature of Islam and Muslims, but at the very end steps off into space. I believe that there are no moderate Muslims and there is no moderate Islam. Those who portray themselves or are portrayed as moderates wear only a veneer (and a very thin one at that) of "moderation."
Scratch any Muslim and you will find a fundamentalist, and the deeper you scratch...the deeper the fundamentalism. These are the Muslims who publicly state that jihad is not the way, but should push comes to shove...would not do anything to defend democratic, non-Muslim ideals. They may live in Western countries and societies, but their hearts and minds reside in medieval Islam.
While they themselves would not initiate or participate directly in Islamic terror, in their heart-of-hearts they condone it. They would not lift a finger to prevent it, but would sit on the sidelines clucking their pious "tsk-tsks" while their jihadist brothers commit atrocity after atrocity.
And, should jihad actually succeed, they would be the first to drop their veneer of moderation. When all was said and done, they would shed no tears over the loss of democracy and the rule of non-Islamic law, and would embrace Shari'a with open arms.
