Reader comment on item: More on the Burkini Ban

Ban the Burkini
It shows the shape of the figure, so is no substitute for the burqa.
It dehumanizes a woman, reducing a woman's body to an object.
It consolidates a husband as owner of her body rendering her a slave. Slavery is allowed in Islam.
In a Democracy a woman is not allowed to behave like a slave.
In a Democracy, there is equality between the sexes. Equality is fundamental in a Democracy. In a Democracy a woman is not allowed to give up her equality.
Clash of Civilizations: Submission of women in Islam is total, amounting to slavery, incl beating....This has no place in a secular society.
Nuns have dedicated their lives to God. This is permissible in a Democracy.
A woman's body owned and driven by a husband is not allowed in a Democracy.
It supports the Islamic concepts that "men are in charge of women". Men are allowed to be in charge of their cattle but not of women.
Islamic laws give rise to a state within a state because the governing principles belong to two opposing sources of jurisdiction. The Islamic laws are contrary to the principles of Democracy. Hence are not valid in a Democratic country.
If the burkini is accepted in a Democratic country, then it follows that wife beating, honour killing, genital mutilation, child brides, denial of an education to women etc become acceptable.
