Hi, Jerry.

This is how Thor stepped down before the Saxons:

"Jove's Oak (interpretatio romana for Donar's Oak and therefore sometimes referred to as Thor's Oak) was a sacred tree of the Germanic pagans located in an unclear location around what is now the region of Hesse, Germany. According to the 8th century Vita Bonifatii auctore Willibaldi, the Anglo-Saxon missionary Saint Boniface and his retinue cut down the tree earlier the same century. Wood from the oak was then reportedly used to build a church at the site dedicated to Saint Peter."

Gideon also got Ba'al to step down:

Judges 6
[27] Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father's household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night.
[28] And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built.
[29] And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they inquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing.
[30] Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it.
[31] And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar.

The only thing propping up Muhammed is people believing in him -- like Western children believe in Santa Claus. Most of those children have stopped believing in Santa; but many of them feel he has been reincarnated as Bernie Santars. (Sometimes we only have partial victories in these matters).

You went on,

"That leaves the other options. They get bored with it and move on to other things. Doubt either will happen.

"The usual answer here is military action. I do believe at some point they will get high on their own testosterone and pungent smell, piss somebody like Israel off, and get bombed off the planet. The rest of Islam will suddenly lose the urge for fighting. Then a redux of the early 1900's, where Islam was viewed by its followers as any other religion. The military aspect will be forgotten and instead science, math, and academia will be pursued... Peace might even break out."

I don't think that will happen. There are too many Muslims in the world for a military action against the people themselves to succeed. More likely, the world will join the Muslims in trying to eliminate the Christians and Jews, so they can claim that they have killed the God of Israel, and then have a big orgy around some golden calf. The Christians are a difficult target -- again, too many of them; but they can try to wipe Israel off the map, and force the Christians into submission by wiping out their credit cards.

I should say, "God forbid!", as the Jews are wont to do; but I don't think God wants to forbid it: I think he wants them to try, so they can "make His day".
