Doing nothing, and accomplishing nothing

Reader comment on item: "The Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act"

Hello, Daniel. You said,

"It's tricks like this that fuel support on the Left (Sanders) and Right (Trump) for candidates who promise integrity in government."

Indeed. Schumer and colleagues have effectively done nothing, at great taxpayer expense. Multiply this by countless go-nowhere policies by every branch of the government (sequestrations, executive actions shot down by the Supreme Court, a Health Care bill that has produced more paperwork and bureaucracy than health care, regulations and mismanagement that have neutered the VA, lies by Hillary, lies by Bill, lies by Obama, lies by Rubio, crusades by Ted Cruz et al that do nothing but throw monkeywrenches in the way of getting anything done, a foreign policy that allies us with the Shi'ites in Iraq and against them in Syria, and the greatest country on earth is ruled by a dog that expends all its energy on chashing its tail, forever.

In the midst of all this, I see that, at last report, you plan to vote for neither Hillary, Bernie or Donald. If that is a recipe for going noplace, as it seems to be, it places you comfortably in the arms of our bipartisan Establishment: with the same goal (doing nothing), to accomplish the same end: (nothing). This reminds me of a passage in Isaiah, against Babylon:

Isaiah 14:
[9] Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
[10] All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?

The Book of Revelation talks about "that great city, Babylon", and describes its fall. Many Christians, from Martin Luther onward, say Babylon represents the Roman Catholic Church; but you and I know different: Babylon is the place of exile for the Jews, the "home away from home" that the Jewish people got so comfortable in, they didn't want to go back to Israel. Before World War II, that place was Europe; but we know where it is now: it is the United States of America.

And this is the prophecy against Bablylon: that it will fall in one hour; and, in the words of Isaiah, it will BECOME WEAK. That "weakness" is described by the condition of someone who is impotent, who can effectively do nothing, who punches at the wind and can't focus his strength to lift anything. That is the condition of the American Establishment: the Bush Dynasty, the Clinton Dynasty, Goldman Sachs, the US military: so strong, and yet so weak. Many American Jews are comfortable in that Establishment, including Charles Schumer... and you?? God forbid! I know you're not; but there you are, working so hard to accomplish nothing alongside the others.

Donald Trump is not the Messiah, and he doesn't pretend to be. Concerning his character and religion, a short piece has been written at

Rev. Norman Vincent Peale, who knew Trump personally and was once his pastor, said he had "a profound streak of honest humility." I kid you not: He said that, and he meant it. Of course, "The Donald" has many detractors -- all of them, not surprisingly, supporters of his political opponents.

As for Hillary Clinton, the chickens have yet to come home to roost, on all the crimes and cover-ups perpetrated by her and her husband in Arkansas, not to mention in the White House, Benghazi and Sate Department. If a sympathetic Barack Obama were not President, she would today be under indictment for serious, Presidency-disqualifying offenses.

This brings us around to Bernie Sanders, the unashamed Socialist. Like so many others of his philosophical bent, he is a VERY rough-hewn version of Santa Claus; and the American people are his elves, who will be compelled to build his toys for him to distribute. My daughter and grandchildren live in Communist China, a country with a long history of Socialism; and I must say that, despite the many shortcomings of my own, Fear-and-Greed-driven Capitalist homeland, I prefer it to the repression inherent in the system my daughter and her children live under. It is because of this, that I do not favor Bernie Sanders for President.

Who else is there? Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate? the man I actually voted for in 2012 -- when I was as exasperated by Mitt Romney as you are today by Donald Trump? There is only one thing I know and need to know about him: He will never become the US President; so that voting for him will essentially be "doing nothing".

This country of ours, this Babylon, is certainly headed for destruction; and the rest of the world should not rejoice at this, because they are headed for destruction along with it. We will not fall at the hands of our enemies; if anything, it is our so-called "friends" who will help us on our way, as we bring ourselves to ruin. Senator Schumer is certainly among those pulling us down, as are the Clintons and Bushes, Obama, Cruz and most of those in power. I don't believe Mr. Trump is; and I don't expect this November to be the moment of our final demise. Time will tell.
