Trump, Hillary and the Angel Moroni

Reader comment on item: MEF's Surprising Straw Poll on Trump
in response to reader comment: Stop destroying the Republican Party NOW.

Submitted by Michael S (United States), Apr 12, 2016 at 04:55

Hello, Daniel

I did check https://twitter.com/DanielPipes/status/719382657361178624 just now. You're looking, it seems, toward a three-party race, perhaps with Trump as the Republican nominee, some disgruntled Republican as a third party candidate and Hillary Clinton as the Democratic candidate. Hillary would win that one, hands down. There would be no need to have the House of Representatives decide the outcome.

I am open to all sorts of possibilities. Perhaps God will raise Ronald Reagan from the dead. That would probably lead to both his nomination and his election. The Mormon angel Moroni suddenly appearing over Cleveland might also cause a stir. Anything can happen; but with the "miracles" we've been seeing the past few years, every President has seemed to be worse than the one before him (and now probably her), regarding religious freedom and worsening relations with Israel.

Ironically, sometimes the worst of intentions turns out for the good. Today, the most dangerous enemies of Israel during its struggle for life in the early days, are now busy beheading and dropping cluster bombs on one another. Europe, which has attacked Israel with increasing tempo over the years, is now on the verge of flying apart at the seams. All this has happened while Israel-US relations have gone from not-so-hot under GHW Bush (Mr.) Clinton, to bad under GW Bush to awful under Obama. Meanwhile, Israel has become an energy exporter and a high-tech powerhouse

I don't know how to do Twitter ®; so unless you post something on this blog, I may miss it. I wasn't aware that you were thinking ther would be a third party run. The last successful third party run was what is now the Republican Party, in 1860 -- and that was accompanied by a civil war. Oh, where are the Whigs when we need them?

Just out of curiosity, who do you think can run on a Third Party ticket against Trump? Trump carried the Republican heartland (as did Hillary) in the Deep South. Cruz won't run as a third party candidate; perhaps Rubio would. All his wins were in Democrat strongholds, namely, Minnesota, DC and Puerto Rico. He wouldn't get a single electoral vote. Nah, I think Hillary will be our next President, for bad or for worse.

I expect Hillary to win, no matter which rules are applied. It doesn't distress me, that neither Trump nor Cruz, nor any ot the others will win. God will have His way, literally come Hell or high water, if it comes to that; but the ending scene is "God Wins".

Shalom shalom :-)
