Reader comment on item: Israeli Breakthrough at the United Nations!

Regarding the UN Security Council, the United States has a rather dismal record, until Obama's administration, when it comes to supports the positions of democratic state of Israel.

Although Ms. "Peace Now" condescendingly asks President Obama to do what is "good" for Israel - in spite of what the "bullies" in both countries want, she does seem to offer an accurate list of all prior administrations which show that Security Council resolutions were passed without a US veto when Israel opposed such resolutions. As she points out, only the Obama administration refused to go along with any anti-Israel resolution, and in fact, vetoed the only one that came up for a vote.

Hopefully, though, President Obama will not support a resolution to impose a two-state solution upon Israel which PM Netanyahu oppose - a position she supports.

The other irony in this scenario is that all non-Western countries, such as China, India, Gulf states, are coming closer to Israel, probably fed up with the Palestinians, while the Democrats still wallow in the view of the poor, unfortunate, Palestinian victims.

It is incredible to me that Israel, having come into being in 1948, only three (3) years after the Holocaust, is still viewed as the oppressor of Muslims, Arabs, Palestinian, when in fact it remains in a state of war since 1945 (not against Egypt and Jordan) with its Arab neighbors, and also in a state of civil war with the Palestinians who.

But the ones who count most are the "others" Arabs (non-Palestinian Arabs). And it seems like finally, the Palestinians are becoming irrelevant to them; Turkey and Iran aren't Arabs, so they "care" (funny).

But my money is on Obama - I think he may realize that Netanyahu was correct - that Obama lacked an understanding of the Middle East. And now that Obama acknowledges that Libya was the biggest regret of his tenure, perhaps he will not to create the West Bank - Gaza "sh*t show" State?
