Irony: UAE building on fire

Reader comment on item: Can the Dubai Model Inspire Arabs?

Submitted by Leon Kushner (Canada), Dec 31, 2015 at 16:02

Hi Daniel,

The timing of your article is very ironic as I am reading it and watching the massive hotel fire in Dubai on TV. As far as I'm concerned, the majority of arabs are a backwards, ignorant people. Some of them had the fortune of being wealthy. To me, the UAE still fall into that category despite all the positives you listed. It's still chicken feed compared to what they could and should be doing to help the world including denouncing terror by their own brothers. They are no better than the Swiss behaved during WWII. Trying to stay neutral is in fact helping the enemy. I'm quite happy to watch that building burn. I suspect that I'm not the only one.
