Highly Educated Egyptian Man's ProposalReader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by Alice (United States), Jul 17, 2015 at 18:40 I am Chinese American. He is Egyptian American. He is very religious and observe Ramadan in Mecca every few years. He just finished one in Mecca very recently. We are both in our 40's. I have been married to my American husband for 14+ years. He was married to his ex-wife about 20 years ago. They were divorced about 10 years ago. After the divorce, she got diabetes and her leg was amputated. He committed to take care of her the rest of her life. That's why they still live together. He raised his stepdaughter with his ex-wife ever since she was 6 months old. Their daughter is 20 years old. She recently gave birth to her son. Her husband who my friend forced them into the marriage when they were both 18. Her husband hit her when she was recovering from cesarean section of this baby. My friend kicked him out of their lives and keep his grandson under his wing. We met at work about a year ago. We were planning to start our business together as partners. To start a business is a long and slow process. It takes a lot of hard work. Over the year, we have been working closely together on our projects. To build a successful business together is our mutual passion and goal. We become close merely through work. Until a few weeks after his grandson was born. He proposed to me that he wants me to raise his grandson with him. He has been telling me that to buy big house, successful business, build a family together with me. He always tells me that how much he wants to take care of me. I never take it seriously because I am married. I responded to his proposal that I am open to start a new life with him because my only daughter who I raised with my current husband is 18. She is moving out to college next month. I am finally free. I am taking his proposal so seriously that I am having marriage counseling so I can end my marriage gracefully to be with him. We never have sex yet at this point. He supports my decision of getting a divorce. My lack of knowledge of Egyptian Muslim man gets me cold feet. Like the comments you quote about Egyptian Muslim men that honesty is not common trait to them. Whereas, I am a very diligent and authentic Chinese woman. I see that in him like show up late at appointments (We are not dating yet. I really mean appointments for work. ) Sometimes cancel last minute that I can't stand. He seems somewhat secretive to me. Is he trustworthy? Can he be serious that he wants to build a family and business with me? Will he really take care of me?
