Married to moroccan adviceReader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by Anne (United States), Jul 5, 2015 at 23:05 OMG. I feel so stupid, 8 months married and the stress is unbelievable. I found islam before deciding to marry a Muslim man. I found the Quran to be beautiful, but I didn't read or follow hadith. I was happy with having a minimal amount of faith in my life, having God and some structure. Mind you I never followed Christianity because I don't believe in the holy trinity. My husband moved here on a student visa and we met on tinder. He was so attractive sweet and kind. He drank and let loose from time to time. We had the same beliefs and similar lifestyles (it seemed). We discussed basic wants and needs and life goals. I wanted to gradually become more conservative and form a closer bond with God, and he was a 'liberal' french educated man. Quickly he ran out of money, he couldn't continue with school. He swore he thought he'd be able to afford his classes working under the table. That he didn't come here knowing he'd need to find a wife. Should have known right there he wasn't an honest person. I was nervous but we proceeded with the paperwork, I chose to give him the benefit of the doubt. My parents were distraught. By ten months we were married. we have now been married for 8 months and I'm at a breaking point. We argue about EVERYTHING. My islam isn't good enough cause I don't follow the horrible teachings of hadith that gives permission to hurt women and treat them as second class citizens. I've stopped going out and seeing my friends, I've stopped living life yet this isn't good enough . He is paying for our a small ceremony and reception this month that will include all friends and family in the states. But to this day he won't share financial information. He keeps his money in a separate account. He now is telling me he wants to go to morocco after the wedding to see his family but I'm not invited because he can't afford me, and I'm too different. His family won't know how to handle me so I can't come. I behave badly and it would be embarrassing. I'm a bad Muslim. And even a few weeks ago he tells me his friend who followed his advice to come study here is now about to marry a woman he has known for 3 months. Whaaaa!? Oh and forgot to mention on our belated honeymoon this spring I found his OKCUPID ACCOUNT. He had been messaging hundreds of girls and flirting (you have such a beautiful smile, we should meet sometime etc etc) This started 2 months before our courthouse marriage and he had even been talking to women while we were on vacation!! I called a few who had exchanged there numbers but all swore they had never met him in person. When I asked him he lied to my face then lost his shit when he realized he was caught. I shouldn't have invaded his privacy by looking at the notification on his phone. I don't trust him anymore, we can't agree on anything. We fight fight fight and the intimacy has decreased to such a level that I'm starving for basic attention and sexual satisfaction. I think I want a divorce but I'm so torn. Our ceremony is in two weeks. I'm so embarrassed. Someone anyone advice!? Submitting....
