The renewal of the war against Israel
Reader comment on item: Business as Usual in the Palestinian Authority

Submitted by Janet Busch (United States), May 17, 2005 at 18:17

What the heck does anyone expect when terrorism is rewarded? I do not understand how Sharon or Bush could have fallen once again for the pie in the sky offered by these murderers. When have the PLO and their various cohorts ever shown that they are seriously looking for peaceful relations with Israel? When have they ever abided by their agreements? Is there a time anyone can recall when the Palestinians ever did anything but refill their coffers and rearm during a cease-fire?

The Palestinians have never changed their explicitly stated goal, the destruction of Israel. Not in their speeches to their own people. Not in their media. Not in their actions. So, what kind of evasion of reality are Bush and Sharon indulging in? How many people have to die before they drop the pretense and fight the damn war?

Frustrated? You bet I am. I don't understand any form of politics that allows for the slaughter of innocents again and again and again. It is criminal.

Mr. Pipes, I apologize for allowing my anger to show. The sense of mpending doom has overtaken my reason. It isn't conducive to rational debate, I know. But what is left? What hasn't been said. Even more, what hasn't been empirically *shown* to be the truth of the matter? I don't expect my comment to be posted. It's enough that I've been allowed to vent to someone who must share my frustration (even if you don't share my lack of control). Thanks.
