Do not Get Involved with MoroccansReader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by Rachel Carter (United Kingdom), Jan 28, 2015 at 19:01 I read this forum over a year ago when I started dating a younger Moroccan guy. We were in love but I was not stupid and was happy to read all the comments on the forum, sadly many full of hate and bitterness. However, one lady just said be aware of the red flags, such as asking for money, a visa or quick marriage. We had none of those and he once asked me for money at the Slaughtering of the Sheep festival but I refused based on things I had learnt in the Quoran (basic stuff) and he said I was right. We had a wonderful experience and yes he treated me like a queen and it was romantic but it is just the same here. But it is a waste of time as he had to get married and have children. I had a child and could not see him with me in ten years regretting that. But more so the more I got to know the culture and life we western women just do not fit in. Gosh if I laughed loud he asked me to be quiet. He was not controlling but sometimes we fought as he was used to being in charge of his Mother and three sisters as his father had died. I noted any red flags - but I think he did genuinely love me but all it caused was pain as we had to split as he wanted to follow Allah more - he changed after Ramadam last year and did not know the person I met in August as I didn't see him in July - both of our choice. I met one of his friends who had married a western women who had converted to Muslim and changed her name to a muslim one- she wasn't allowed to join us on a day tour and I was told that he doesn't have to tell her what he does. That is their relationship and it is great! Wow we had a big fight that day. Keep away and if you think hey this is not me we love each other so much. That can be true but do research, read the quran and find out what is expected of you, the life of any children you have and how you will have to fit into the family. What about marriage? How do you protect yourself? What if you get divorced - what are the rules about children? Sorry to be harsh but I am heartbroken and feel a fool not for being fooled that he loved me but I should have known better to let him. He is heart broken too. But when you are lonely you want love. I have no regrets as I did nothing stupid like giving him a visa, money or apparantly on this site ladies talk about doing things sexually they didn't want to do. So thanks to this site I kept the red flags and my respect. There is good and bad everywhere but these guys have little to do, have lots of evenings to skype for hours, are dreamers offering business deals and gosh how many pester you in the medina. It is not flattery they are chasing you for money. Ignore. Someone else will be around the corner to replace you soon enough. I would love to check out my exes emails now ha ha Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
