Excellent article by Dr. Pipes. While the government and experts chase after illusions of change in a vain effort to secure peace, brave and lonely voices in the Arab and Muslim worlds struggle to be heard. Their own media and social institutions reinforce a wave of opposition to them and our own media and social institutions reinforce a wave of ignorance of their efforts. But these voices exist, and in not inconsiderable quantity. My recently-released friend and colleague, Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, is one of them. It is incumbent upon us to recognize and support them if we ever hope to see real peace come not just to the Middle East, but to the rest of the world as well.
