American-Egyptian relationshipReader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by GeeshSheesha (United States), Oct 28, 2014 at 14:58 I am an American Christian woman who dated an Egyptian when I was 18. He moved to the US to get his masters degree. He got accepted to a school on the east coast. We dated for 7mo. prior to his move out east. (We were on the west coast). We both loved ea. other but say it to one another because we were both young and afraid of rejection. I felt like someone died the day he left for school. Flash forward six years later and he came to visit me. I was in another relationship so we just caught up. But it was lovely at the same time just to sit and talk. Flash forward eight yrs.of no contact and we found each other again. He got married to an American Christian...had two kids...and a divorce. I am single after a LTR....and we finally confessed after 18 years that we loved one another when we were 18. He's since become a US citizen...has a fantastic career and owns a few businesses. I am a professional and we both do well for ourselves. Here's my quandry. He is Muslim. That isn't changing. He wants to marry me...and I want to marry him. But I have no kids and I want them. He has been very clear they would have to be raised Muslim. I just don't agree with that. He said they could celebrate Easter and Christmas...but I would want them to know Christ. He's not what I would call a good Muslim. He ocassionally drinks, smokes at 4:20 (rarely but he has) has had premarital sex...ironically...never with me. He and I never slept together. Now we both want it so bad we're going nuts. But I just don't know if I could be fulfilled raising my hypothetical children in a theology that sees me as an outsider. Any advice?
