Reader comment on item: Washington Finally Gets It on Radical Islam

Submitted by userwaggon@aol.com (United States), Apr 28, 2005 at 10:02

Dear Dr. Pipes.

Is it possible for you to officially hold an active position in the US government? As a former French national, I do not have the knowledge of how you could hold such a position. I would be the first to vote for you or seek for you to be appointed to be Secretary of State or better, if this were possible. It is heartbreaking to observe that, once again, you had already outlined the problem with terrorist Islam, and even provided the solution; it took all that time for the government to come to the same conclusions you had reached long ago... I hope that many more individuals that are following your career, as I am, share the feelings I have just expressed and would be ready to help you occupy the position you deserve, a position that would allow you to bring the needed change in "counterterrorism".

I also see a parallel between you and the state of Israel, for I perceive you respectively as aware, knowledgeable and ready for action, but sadly held back by the U.S. government.

I would appreciate a response from you, however brief it may be.

Carmen Waggoner, Ph.D.

Daniel Pipes replies:

Yes, it is possible, and I have held several U.S. government positions.
