Keep my tax dollars far away from all groups like CAIR
Reader comment on item: Washington Finally Gets It on Radical Islam

Submitted by Dale (United States), Apr 25, 2005 at 20:04

My concern with the US funding any part of Islam is to keep groups like CAIR far away from the money and ideas. Groups like CAIR have no problem being nice to the face of governmental officials all while they are pushing their radical agenda and at the same time setting them up to be stabbed in the back and when that happens it is to the harm of all freedom loving people in our country.

The more I learn about CAIR and the relationship that the government has with them the more concerned I become. What kind of person in the government lets CAIR give sensitivity training classes to the FBI? The only classes that CAIR should be giving is to other Muslims on how to adapt to American society and live in the free world and be a positive, productive member of society. Bureaucrats are letting CAIR into our schools to teach our children sugar coated versions of Islam.

In my opinion, the only reason there are 1.2 billion members of Islam is because in most of those countries the masses are not allowed to look at any other options and so the count is artifically high. While I realize that Washington must do something to counter the fanatical islamists, it does give me heartburn to find out that my tax dollars are funding anything islamic. A better option might be to fund Christianity and freedom of religion in Saudi Arabia and other places with other doctrines. We let Saudi Arabia fund mosques in our country but it is illegal to build a church there. I have taken a close look at Islam and I really do see it as more of a political cult rather than a religion. I won't go into detail here but this whole idea of us subsidizing Islam is disturbing to me.

In the meantime, Dr. Pipes your work is excellent, you keep producing thought provoking articles one after the other. I get a lot out of reading your information.
