I never ceased to be amazed at how well members of the ummah look out for each other. It's always heartwarming. But this time it's hard to figure the motive(s) of the Turkish government.

But, Dr. Pipes, you may have hit it with comment #3. Perhaps it's one more opportunity to suck American armed forces into the Arab morass because westerners have humanitarian concerns the Muslim world consistently lacks. One more opportunity to murder and kidnap Americans and have us leave looking as though we lost again, and they won again. Not an opportunity to be missed if it can be brought about.
