There Are Scholars and ScholarsReader comment on item: Which Privileges for Islam? Submitted by Dave M O'Neill (United States), Mar 15, 2005 at 20:23 Although I do not always agree with you on policy (e.g. I think democracy can take hold in Iraq) I always admire your scholarly, analytical and forthright approach to fighting the war against the wretched Islamo-facists. It was particularly refreshing coming soon after I sat through a scholarly lecture at the Jewish Theological Seminary on whether Islam can become modernized and less radical. By the time the lecture was over I thought I was sitting in the editorial room of the New York Times, listening to a lecture by Bill Moyers! I just cannot figure out (especially after the Oslo experience) how any intelligent person can believe that if we are just more sympathetic to the suffering of the Arabs (after all don't we realize that they have to live with Jews in their midst and the suffering this must cause them) they will love us and they might even give up the hope of driving all the Israelis to the Upper West Side.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
