Using masks and transmission of infections

Reader comment on item: Niqabs and Burqas as Impediments to Health

Dr. Pipes

It has been known for a long time that when health care professionals use face masks they should keep them saliva free because it seems that the presence of saliva is the factor that will increase the chances of contracting an infection and I suspect that these wet spots might even increase the dose of the virus being transmitted

As for why do women in SA have less chance of contracting MERS I suppose if they keep their face cover saliva free then they have less chance but in reality this is far from the truth as did you watch women eating with face cover? most of them end by having some wet spots

The real question to me is do women seek medical help with ease as men do in SA? Just imagine that if a woman is sick she cannot even see her doctor without having a relative going with her to the doctor could this be why women have less incidence of MERS?
