How did Christians control so much land in America and Europe

Reader comment on item: Muslim Acts of Beheading in the West
in response to reader comment: how did Muslims come to control an area from Indonesia to Morocco?

Dear Dr Pipes:

The reader AAA from India seems to imply that Christians also conquered Europe and North and South America through violence. Well, AAA's rhetoric is meaningless for so many reasons. I will mention a few:

1) Past is past but modern day Christians seem to be less obsessed with their religion than modern day Muslims.

2) Even if we grant that Christians did every single bad deed that Muslims did, it will not disprove that Muslims did no bad deeds.

3) There are tens of examples around the world where a Muslim place of worship was constructed next to a non-Muslim place of worship. I do not see that many churches similarly situated.

4) People from Christian background have done significant contribution to secular ethics, science, philosophy, mathematics, art, philanthropy, and morality. The contribution of people of Muslim background is comparatively miniscule.

I hope I made a small dent in AAA's thinking.
