This is the sort of hard-nosed, logical thinking that I would not expect from the Obama administration. Obama himself is quite shallow-minded and his choice of Hagel for Defence Secretary reflects that.

Our approach to Iran up to now has been like our approach to Afghanistan and a lot of other issues: Just do the usual and the usual happens. We're not terribly creative.
