Iraqi ManReader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by Guest (United States), Dec 8, 2012 at 16:51 thank you for your comments. The thing is he doesn't necessarily want to leave Iraq. he has very close family ties and is the only male in his immediate family (his dad died when he was around 12), he has his mom and 2 sisters and they are married with children. He is very close to his mom who has 10 brothers and sisters and they all visit and stay with each other. It really is a beautiful scenario, caring for one another like they do. His mom has been a widow for many years, I have met her and she accepted me unconditionally. I have also met his sisters who love me like their own sister. I really find no faults with him or his family accept that they are a little naive and get taken advantage of. He did say he would go anywhere I wanted him because I am the only think that makes him happy. I on the other hand, would not take him away from his family, or at least not forever, because I see the strong family bond. So, I don't think this man is looking for ways out of Iraq. He has even discussed his frears of making it in the U.S. because he is a muslim man. He also fears that it would be hard for him to find a job. I don' t think this sounds like a man that wants to leave is own country. He said that obtaining a visa after our marriage would be easier than working on it now, but he also has his doubts that that process will be easy because he is the only male in his immediate family. He said he knows friends of his that went through a long process and were denied just because they were the only male in the family. He has asked me if I thought I could be happy in a different country, not Iraq, cuz he said he would never bring me here unless it was 100% safe. We both like Lebanon and Jordan and have discussed living there...he doesn't require a visa for those areas...So I do appreciate your comment and welcome any others but I have an answer for all the comments made thus far and plan on commenting on them. Maybe we are too cynical in the U.S. and just can't accept an honest human when we meet one. This man is as genuine as I've ever seen... He knows I have my doubts and he asks all the time what can he do to prove to me. he is so fearful of losing me just on my doubt alone and said he would be devastated. he truly believes he has met his soulmate, and I have met mine. He talks of God a lot and is very interested in the Christian religion. He is a sunni (sp?) and the rest of his family are shites (sp?) he is always reading about other cultures and very open minded. When he speaks it is not trivial but sometimes the most profound things come from him. He seems so much older than his 32 years. I welcome any other comments.. I am trying to fight my doubts but they get clearer every day. People like this are hard to find...He is an angel in disguise and I have fallen hard.
