Reader comment on item: Why I Am Voting Republican
in response to reader comment: Fundamentaist Islam is economically unsustainable

Submitted by Homefront (Australia), Nov 9, 2012 at 18:51

Prashant,

The problem is so many of these things that we label as unsustainable just tend to grow and grow and grow like viruses until they have consumed all of that which is functional, practical and good. Obama's victory (the great victory of statist rape and taxation over voluntary association) illustrates the strength of the dependency classes as an electoral block in the United States. It is the crucible on which the once strong back of a proud nation will now be broken.

But do you believe for one moment when the US plummets off that fiscal cliff that any of the legions of fools who elected this nonentity Obama and his stupid Vice president would ever attribute the economic apocalypse to government profligacy? To their expensive benefits? To the gargantuan expansion of bureaucracy and expenditure associated with Obamacare? No they will blame overseas wars, George W Bush, Capitalism, the GOP and all of the demons of their state centered identity politics laden state religion.

Insight escapes the garden variety liberal as perfectly as it escapes the voters who brought the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Egypt. In those Muslim states where the money is likely to run out in the Middle East (ie those without a couple of hundred years worth of oil wealth still to draw upon) if the Islamists bring about an economic collapse through their ill conceived (though demographically robust) policies they'll just be able to blame a lack of piety in the Umma for their failures. After all Islam is perfect to them and their votaries - to say otherwise is to attract severe penalties - therefore impiety is the only thing that can produce failure in Islam. If things really get bad they can just get back to running their comprehensive jihad against the now broker weaker "Great Satan" and all of its allies.

Homefront.
