Where are all the missing Bibles?

Reader comment on item: Mocking Muhammad Is Not Hate Speech

One element of this narrative never reported is the great lengths Islamic countries go to in order to strip Westerners of their Bibles and other religious material. I have lived and traveled extensively in the Middle East – primarily Saudi Arabia and Kuwait – both in my function as a former U.S. Navy officer and as a civilian. I have had several bibles confiscated, but what was their fate? Burned as an official act of the local government…sent to a landfill, desecrated for fun, resold on ebay?

There has never been any attempt to solicit a moderate or tolerant stance within the Muslim countries to allow others to enjoy and practice their faiths. There has never been an attempt to discern what happens to all of these Bibles. Muslims are free to abuse our religious rights, but Islam is off limits?

The rational person would think that tolerance and respect should be a two-way street, but not so when it involves the Muslim world. While I worked in Saudi Arabia for an international company – there were employees whose job was to chase Muslims to prayer, as well as to convert non-believers to Islam. I still have the primer-Koran text books and propaganda the company provided – from the Saudi government.

Appreciate your article and fully understand the context - sadly the world and thought processes of Islam are about 600 years behind the civilized world.
