Gives Idea...

This double standard has given me an idea. What would happen if someone sued the pants off of every professor of Middle Eastern Studies who ever ranted against the JOOOOZ from the lectern, every imam who did likewise, and every gay rights activist or public school teacher who ever mouthed off about Christian "fundies"?

Something tells me we'd quickly see liberal lawyers discovering that "hate crime" is a redundant category (who, loving or simply respecting, his neighbor will commit theft or murder against him?); that free speech is there for people left of the Klan (Brandenburg v. Ohio) and right of Hillary Clinton too; and that legal harrassment may not be all that good a political tool, after all.

On the other hand, Mr. Ehrgott's comments were, to say the least, ill-advised; even if I do share his opinion that CAIR has gone off the deep end--if it ever was in the safe area of the pool.
