Reader comment on item: Iraq: What's Next?

It is a shame when actual authorities and truly scholarly men like Daniel Pipes are interviewed by semi-articulate, semi-informed, semi-educated people - as Chris Matthews obviously is, to judge by his incoherent blitherings - who interview them in the context of a round table wherein nothing of any substance is discussed.

The real goal of the interview would seem to be a legitimization and lionization of Peter Arnett, in which he - a know-nothing TV journalist hack with leftist tendencies - is interviewed alongside conservative realists who are truly knowledgeable. Probably the pitch for this interview was something like, "Listen, Matthews, we gotta get Arnett on his feet again and make sure John Q Public forgets he's pinko subversive. Roust some guys who are above reproach - conservative, you understand - and stick Arnett like right in there with them and when you introduce him make like he's got just as much on the ball as those other guys. Under no circumstances should you make it seem like he's a leftist semi-literate with no military knowledge who don't have credential one."
"Gotcha boss."
