How about Holland?

Reader comment on item: Uncovering Early Islam

Submitted by John the Drunkard (United States), May 16, 2012 at 18:41

Unfortunately, Spencer's a priori Christian apologetic stance makes his other books hard going. His attempts to promote Christianity as the 'real' Religion of Peace undermine any attempt to help Mohammedans to progress towards a rejection of the tribal violence in the Koran and Hadith.

While it is fine, indeed necessary, to point out that (MOST) Jews and Christians do not act on the nastier parts of their scripture, we have to admit that this change only came about by the erosion of scriptural authority in general. 'Good' Muslims, as well as 'good' Christians and Jews, need to show HOW they choose what to accept from their traditions, not just that they don't hunt witches, stone adulterers of kill people for picking up sticks on Sabbath.
