With How Atrociously They Have Ran the Economy of Gaza, They Have To Become a Charitable Organization

Reader comment on item: Interview with Ahmad Yusuf: "Hamas Is a Charitable Organization"

Hamas sure does not deserve a Nobel Prize in Economics. In Gaza, 98% of its businesses are closed down, there is 45% unemployment, and revenue is brought in by drug smuggling. The Palestinian economy is so dependent on international aid. Essential commodities such as diesel fuel, water, electricity, and medicines which could be bought in from Israel, are refused because Hamas does not want it from "Zionist sources." So instead they go through a much lengthier process of getting it from Egypt. With how destitute the 1.5 million citizens of Gaza are, and how much they are dependent on international aid, that sure shows how Hamas is a charitable organization.
