Irregular war against Iran

Reader comment on item: Further Reactions to My "Bomb Iran" Argument

Submitted by Shishir (United Arab Emirates), Dec 28, 2011 at 07:56

I am against a conventional military strike at Iran. While Broder and Ron Paul are foolish in suggesting that those who endorse the bomb Iran idea want to improve the economy(in fact the spiralling oil prices and plummeting stocks will make it much worse), I still cant get behind it even with political cover of Obama's re election campaign.(anymore I supporting the planned Iraq and ill conceieved Sudan/Afghanstan bombing during Clintons Monica Lewinsky troubles)There are surely better ways of containing Iran,as Fouad Ajami suggested at the height of the Iraq insurgency-send a car bomb to Damascus and Teheran. This is a dirty war and there should be little consideration for civilian casulties on the enemies side.

The funding of MEK was a step in the right directions but why not recollect that Iran is smouldering witches brew of competing ethnicities and sects with millenia old grievances much like Iraq?

Its not that hard to turn Iran into Iraq circa 2004-2008.Consider -less than 50% of the country is of the core Farsi ethnicity.Sunni Arabs( of mostly black African genes for some reason) sit on top of Irans oil reserves.Baluchs in Pakistan are a restive lot, there is no reason Iranian Balochs cant be as well

Iran doesnt quite care for its Pushtun "guests".Again I defer to Fouad Ajami -dont look for gratitude in the Hindu Kush- these Pushtuns can easily be paid by U.S to create trouble.

Let us of course not forget the young Iranians who loathe the regime and wish it to disappear. Even if they are victims of a U.S led dirty Iraq type war, they would blame the mullahs for bringing it on themselves.

In the meantime, I dont quite buy the Iranian claims of nuclear self sufficiency. The damage inflicted by Stuxnet, CIA/ Mossad engineered explosions and assasinations of top scientists is more than they are willing to admit.

They had been claiming for about 4 years that the regime is 1 year away from producing a nuclear device!

BTW I was disappointed that the CIA didnt take a page out of Mossads book and pull a Trojan horse on the captors of their drones!
