Israel's Taking of Responsibility for the Refugee ProblemReader comment on item: Palestinians Blame Arab Leaders for the "Nakba" Submitted by Marjorie Rosenfeld (United States), Dec 11, 2011 at 18:07 Answer to "Two Sides to Every Issue" saying that Israel must take some responsibility for creating the refugee problem. Israel HAS taken some responsibility. Israel offered, following the 1948 War of Independence, to repatriate 100,000 Arab refugees. The offer was turned down, apparently on the basis that to accept it would imply recognition of Israel. Israel has, however, repatriated about 50,000 Arab refugees under family reunification policies.
