Islam is the Antithesis of ModerationReader comment on item: Identifying Moderate Muslims Submitted by Arlinda DeAngelis (United States), Nov 27, 2004 at 11:56 Dr. Pipes is a scholar and statesman. He analyzes problems, sees their national and world wide ramifications and through study and genius seeks solutions.I, on the other hand, ...disagree. Moderate Muslims have done nothing but quietly, almost silently and, at times, almost nonexistently protested. It is so demure as to be almost inaudible and unseeable. I ascribe to that a passive support of Islamofascism. In my opinion they are part of the problem because they do nothing and they have no power within Islam. It is interesting that Dr. Pipes wants to encourage that movement thereby creating a change from within. I ...disagree. And so we have divergent opinions. There is, of course, the mighty and deadly Soviet Union that was destroyed from within by the course of action proposed by Dr. Pipes with Islam. It works but Islam is an even more dangerous and lethal belief system because it is now a nuclear religion in chaos ... ruled and seduced by the murderous and popular few and, in my opinion, it's only a matter of time before these fanatics destroy the planet. Then, again, the Soviets had nuclear capabilities and it took them more than half century to change. On the other hand the Soviets never came to Chambers Street to kill three thousand Americans. Three thousand dead is enough to convince me ... Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
