Reader comment on item: Not Stealing Palestine but Purchasing Israel

Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), Jun 21, 2011 at 10:09

The Palestinians believe they are descended from a tribe of ancient Canaan. Genesis10:1-32, gives the generations of Noah's family, namely, his sons Ham, Shem and Japheth. The Palestinians actually descended from Cush, the son of Ham. (Genesis 10:14 "And Pahruisim, and Casluhim (out of whom came the Philistines), and Caphtorim") Canaan was another son of Ham, whom the Jebusite descended from(Genesis 10: 15,16). So the Palestinians, known as the Philistines, were not Canaanites.

Since the Earth was divided after the flood, and the families were scattered (Genesis 10:32) it very well may be that the ancient Palestinians were invaders. It was and still is a matter of jealousy that Israel is so blessed. God told Abram the boundaries of the land (Genesis 15:18-21: In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: The Kenites, and the Kenissites, and the Kadmonites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaim, and the Amorites, and the Canaaanites, and the Girsashites, and the Jebusites.") Genesis 17: 1-27, God gives Abram the name of Abraham; establishes His everlasting covenant (vs. 9-14); gives Ishmael a nation (v. 20). The existence of Israel is a fact that its warring neighbors should heed.
