Obama and Israel

Reader comment on item: Obama's Failed Middle East Speech
in response to reader comment: Obama just made one mistake

Submitted by Kepha Hor (United States), May 21, 2011 at 22:01

This reminds me of Taiwan's predicament in the late 1970's and the continuing deterioration of its position in the world. I just hope all here are aware that American policy can and does throw allies under the proverbial bus, and this is not the first time.

But, what should we have expected? Obama sat for decades under a preacher whose sympathies for the Palestinian Arabs made him rabidly anti-Israel and anti-America for American support for Israel. His pal Van Jones is a Truther, his campaign manager a self-professed admirer of Mao Zedong. Obama began his political career (using the likes of Wright and Farrakhan to start it) inventing himself as an enemy of the "white oppressor"--a role which Israel has fit perfectly ever since it became clear that it would not drift into the Soviet orbit.

Hopefully, Obama will find a way to back out of his speech demanding Israeli suicide.

But I doubt he will ever stop to politely remind China that, re Taiwan, we Americans are coming up on two full centuries of peace with those reactionary counter-revolutionaries and running dogs of English colonialism (and our chief suppliers of foreign oil) north of the Great Lakes; and that what worked for us might also work in their part of the world.
