Connecting the dotsReader comment on item: In the Mideast, Bush dared to be different Submitted by Anna (United States), Oct 24, 2004 at 21:10 What a creative analysis of the situation! Some of the commenters here have misunderstood -- it is not Bush's fault that there is no Palestinian state. He, with Sharon and others, set the framework so that it could happen. But those who mounted a campaign of terror, and those who stood idly by while it went on unimpeded are the ones who bear the responsibility of the lack of progress, not Mr. Bush and his team. Additionally, while it would have been far easier for Mr. Bush to modify his actions based on the political winds, he has chosen to follow his principles for what is right. And we Americans have far too short an attention span to be able to decide how to conduct foreign policy. Thank you, Dr. Pipes, for a brilliant synthesis of information, as always.
