Even coddling doesn't preclude an endorsement.
Reader comment on item: Coddling a Terrorist [Sami Al-Arian] Costs Votes

Submitted by Russ Grayson (United States), Oct 19, 2004 at 20:17

As the Miami Herald's Marc Caputo noted last Friday, the Castor campaigners have now hurled the tired "Mc Carthyite" epithet at Martinez--continuing their baseless ad hominem attacks as a way of deflecting criticism from the truth of Betty Castor's ineptitude in her capacity as president of USF. She allowed not only Al-Arian, but his entire cabal to roost at her school and cited "academic freedom" as a basis for suspending them WITH PAY. Castor refuses to respond to her conduct with so much as a whiff of a mea culpa, attacking Martinez with lies and insults instead. However, this did NOT stop the Herald from endorsing Castor yesterday. Shame on them...I've cancelled my subscription.
