The key issue is always the same

Reader comment on item: Will Israel-Palestinian peace talks be successful?

Submitted by sara (United States), Sep 5, 2010 at 17:51

Dr Pipes states the bottom line. The first and last reason there can never EVER be successful peace is as a result of the refusal of the PLO/PA/HAMAS to recognize Israel's right to exist.

Netanyahu raised the issue yesterday in the opening talks. That Israel recognized a Pal state, and that Pals should recognize the right of Israel to exist.

Let's not hold our breath waiting for that... Even after Oslo when the PLO turned into the 'legit' PA and claimed they would recognize Israel, guess what? They never changed the PLO charter to reflect recognition. Never. And Hamas has always had in its charter the complete destruction of Israel. At least they're honest and forthright. I prefer them so the world can know better where they stand, instead of the double speak of the PA a-la-arafat.
