Jane is absolutely right. Our last president craved European approval and so he treated the first bombing of the World Trade Center as a "nuisance" law enforcement matter, not as a declaration of war upon America. G.W. Bush does not seek what Europeans will not give and so they hate him for it. I fear what will happen if John Kerry is elected, because he also seems to crave world approval, regardless of what it means for this country.
Fortunately for Europe, our leaders are not irresponsible enough to turn their backs on the continent, even though it is highly deserved. We did that once before (after World War 1) with disastrous results. Never again.
