Who will take Saddam's place?
Reader comment on item: Analyst Calls for Redefinition of 'War on Terror'

Dear Daniel,

I am always pleased with your position on terror, and especially demonstrating that Islam, and most religious Muslims are anti Israel and anti Christians. I have to add that most people think that all the problems since 9/11 come from Israel, I could tell them, that a famous HizBallah sheikh, announced long before 9/11, that when they throw the Israelis out of the middle East, they will go after the rest of the world. Meaning Islam will.

My comments on this article, is that before attacking Iraq, and not to defend them, we need to consider the situation in Iraq: Iraq has a majority Shiite muslims, identical Muslims to the Muslim in Iran. Saddam on the other hand is a Sunni Muslim, like most Muslims such as in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Algeria, etc... In the previous war, the Gulf War, when Bush senior realized that this is the case, he stopped short of attacking Saddam in order to avoid two countries becoming one (Iraq and Iran) Shiite country which will threaten the safety of the oil, and the Sunnis in Saudi and Kuwait. Remember, if Saddam is removed and replaced by a Shiite, Iran will have to join Iraq, since they share the same faith and will have to visit Karbalah, were Hassan and Hussein were massacred. I am personaly against both, but I think we hage to deal with them unfortunately. Therefore prior to attacking Saddam, I hope we have a replacement, and I hope we know what we are doing: this is not Afghanistan, and not Kuwait.

Regards,
Ernie
