What Could Have BeenReader comment on item: Palestine Betrayed Submitted by Barry Black (United States), Jun 15, 2010 at 13:39 I believe the most hidden betrayal occurred at the end of the 1967 war. Israel had three choices. It could have allowed the Palestinians to continue their exodus to more friendly climes and then annexed the West Bank----there would have been world consternation, but in time all that passes. They could have offered the Palestinians a framework into which their nation would be created and with a triumphant Israel and weakened Palestinian politic the more saner heads would have ruled before a Palestinian power structure was emboldened. But the Israelis chose the worst of the three scenarios----an occupational stalemate. Hindsight is always 20:20, but it's always good to think what could have been!
