Too much religious tolerance world wide

Reader comment on item: Enforce Islamic Law in Canada?

Submitted by Steve Vasseur (Canada), Mar 19, 2010 at 12:14

As a member of the Atheist Alliance (A-Humanist) I find that the religious motives are blended quite intentionally into our political system, which is itself, far from perfect, so as acheive more rights than anyone else may have under our charter and constitution. It is time that the religious books which are being followed quite literally, be carefully srutinized by our governments and all elements of their content which portrays any violence toward women, state or other racial elements be removed from their so called holy books and a new revised MODERN standard book (s)be re-printed for all religions to follow. It is high time that 4000 year old mythology and half baked truths be removed from our children's educations and futures once and for all. I have a B.A. in Literature and Psychology along with 25 year post graduate research in these related fields and if I thought there was any need for any so called "Holy Books" to be a requirement for our future well being, I would be the first to admit it. I thank you for your time, sincerely, Steve Vasseur ( Remember, these are the writings of men, not gods even if they did exist or as we like to put it, where was god when the poor Jews were being burnt in ovens and little children screaming for their lives which obviously shows the lack of efficacy in the prayer element, heavens and hells are just scare tactics)
