Whose propoganda?Reader comment on item: Crisis in Turkey Submitted by JUNE (Turkey), Mar 3, 2010 at 11:04 I guess you haven't read todays paper where it quotes the TSK (Arny) websıte - the TSK has acknowledged that ındeed there were Offıcers involved in coup planning. (Unbenownst the Başburğ). The problem is actually the nationliasts/status quo power keepers against peaceful co-exıstence and democracy development. Religion is a smokescreen. ... Also a point, if Turkey (according to CİA World book) is 99.8% Muslim - and so by definition followers of Islam, do the men not pray during their military service? All men are obliged to do military service - so are we led to believe that it's only when they finish that they run for the mosque? ... This country has not been secular since Ataturk died. İf it was secular there would be no call to prayer 5 times a day, nor would there be religious holidays. The state has always had a hand in religion - the Directorate of Religious Affairs has been around for more than 40 years. ...
